Izhevsh PU sniper scope Ser #

I have a Izhevsh PU sniper. How unusual is it to have a matching Ser # scope and same #on the rifle.
The scope number is not lined out on the left side of the rifle then i realized the scope # and the stamped # are the same.1944 rifle,1943 Progress scope.
Sold my TULA 8 years ago and dam i wish i did not sell it.
Paid a lot today for this one but no regrets.
It was sold threw classic in 2013 in that large batch of PUs sold back then.

The original scope number on the barrel shank on your rifle was scrubbed, the number that's on there now was stamped by whatever depot refurbished it when they matched it to the refurbished progress scope that you have now.

It's pretty common, this was the standard practice when your rifle was refurbished (by some depots, others had different procedures)

If you post some photos I should be able to tell you which depot did this

The first PU I had was matching scope to the barrel shank. The rifle was a 1944 Izhevsk, and the scope was a 1940 dated progress factory SVT optic. Low SN # too on the optic. Mine also came from Classic when they had them for 599. I traded that PU I had, then regretted it and then bought another shortly after.

That's also a refurb matched rifle, with the original number scrubbed and restamped with the serial number of the reworked/refurbished scope by a depot

An original matching Izhevsk PU rifle never had the scope or rifle number marked in any way on the mount, only on the barrel shank (with some very rare exceptions in 1942)

Sure glad to have another correct PU. Bore is bright but dang some Ruski sure liked to run that cleaning rod down the bore .Rifling almost gone at the muzzle.

Took it completely apart today, no rust or pitting. No cracks or chunks of wood missing. Has that nice dark Mahogany color to the wood. Bench sighted it in at 100 yards at home. Surprised the riffling is NOT dark. I feel i got a good one .
If i must pick something out of order one of the turret screws is a flat head and all the other are proper round top ?. I can live with that.
Might go to WEGC range next week if the weather stays nice.
