More SVT Issues: Piring Pin Problem?

Well, I got my SVT-40 to shoot milsurp now (cleaned the chamber) - and it is very accurate (considering the shooter).

BUT - I noticed with Winchester White Box, it likes to put deep holes in the primer, in some cases, going all the way through.

Is this a firing pin protrusion issue, or an issue with soft commercial primers?

I didn't notice the issue until the end of the day, so I didn't have a chance to recover any of the milsurp to see if it was doing it on those. . .

    Thoughts?

    EDIT:

I looked at your Milsurp cases today, no pierced primers. I think it's the soft non-military primers.

There must be a reason why CCI makes and sells "military" primers for reloading.

          I agree. Soft commercial primers.

Well, if I buy more commercial ammo, I'll make sure I get Barnaul, since that stuff is pretty much Russian military ammo - no more WWB for me!!!

            At $1 per round, I won't miss it. . .

I had the same problem with the Winchester ammo. Privi is okay, I haven't tried the Barnaul yet, let us know how it works.

Good for military surplus with free-floating firing pins and reducing the chance of getting a slamfire.
