anyone visited the Port Clinton, OH store of the CMP?

got my garand collectors club thingy in the mail today, so that coupled with the C&R means i'm finally eligible for one of those garands.

i was poking around the thecmp website and noticed they have a retail outlet in ohio, anyone visited? are the prices the same as the mail order?

    neat place

I went a few years ago. They had several racks of 1903s, Garands, and a couple of Kimbers at the time. It was nice that you could look at what you wanted before you bought it. On the down side, the dogs tend to stay in the racks for a long time and if there is no turnover that day you may have slim pickings. Guys behind the counter do offer to help. At that time they also had ammo, tools, shooting accessories, books and other stuff. No problem getting on the base. Bring gloves and a rag unless you like cosmo on your hands. Bring gauges if you have them though they had a few you could borrow. Note, things may have changed since 2005 when I last went there. Also, they may try to charge you sales tax. You can take the rifles with you or have them shipped. I had mine shipped and a rifle i picked for the stock arrived with the stock cracked almost in half.

Was there last year while visiting my brother near Detroit. Great customer service. I purchased a H&R M12 at that time. Good luck and have fun.

I'm going to the South Store in a couple of weeks, thinking of picking up 10 cans of 30-06 and a SA CMP Special while I'm there. No 6 month waiting. I'll post a report when I get back.
