DUO Pistol

I do not know alot about these yet..Someone who does can sure enlighten me. I bought it last week and it came in the mail today. It is a 25ACP..Fun to shoot. And is a 44 dated model, made during Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. It is somewhat rough on the outside. But bore and internals are fantastic.

Yes I have read they were made off the Browning 05 06..Alot of parts interchange and maybe even parts from the Colt pockets too.

I think They became CZs after the War too. Same pistols, different markings and grips post war..But I am no expert..Only one I have ever owned.

You've got a Ducek Opočno (DUO). Fransek Ducek made the pistol in the city of Opočno, Czechoslovakia. The roll stamp on the slide reads "OPOTSCHNO" which is the German spelling of the city name. Pre-occupation pistols will have the correct Czech spelling of Opočno.

After the war, CZ adopted the design and renamed it the "Model Z". Also really cool.

To determine if the frame and slide are matching, there is a serial stamped on the inside of the mag well. Remove the left grip to see it.

I've got a 1944 as well, in near pristine condition. It's a tidy little shooter. I put about 40 rounds of 2-3 different types of ammo through without a hitch it when I got it. One of my favorites in my collection.

IIRC, it got it for 425 on gunbroker with only a handful (3-4) competing bids:

Thanks for sharing it and the additional information. I read that alot of these wartime ones were probably war bring backs..Privately purchased by German Officers and SS maybe..No way to ever know I suppose, but likely the case..But it has been here quite a while as shown by the lack of any import marks..Been here before 68 I suppose.

Yours is 10,000 serial numbers above mine. So they must have a made fair amount of these during the War..

Thanks for the tip on the numbers matching..The last three digits of the slide serial number are stamped inside the mag well.

I know this one is rough..But I only paid 200.00 for it..So I am happy to have it for that much..

It came with this cool little holster too..Nothing great..Probably homemade, but kinda cool anyway.

I found the thread on another forum where I shared the pistol when I got it. It turns out I got it for a winning bid of $331 right before Christmas shopping season.

I only have one box of ammo right now, and of course the way things are, none to found. I put an ad on another forum to trade .22 for some..But no takers yet,LOL

Probably find some at the local Gun Show next month. If it is priced right anyway. Or I will have to wait a couple years to shoot it much..Would not even have one box. But my Buddy had one box at his Gun Store for me.

6.35mm ammo was already difficult to find pre-covid-- not to mention expensive. Hopefully, soon it wont be so hard to find.

Call small gun shops. 25acp is not in big demand. I am sure you will be able to find some, but you may have to travel.

I am sure I will find some at the local shows next month..I picked up the one box I do have at my Buddys small gun shop. No hurry..I will not be shooting it a whole lot anyway. Just nice to have a box or two around. I have plenty of other Firearms and ammo for shooting. This is just kinda a collector piece for me more than a shooter.

I did find one box online in stock at a good price. But add in shipping for one that one box and it gets expensive.
