HOW TO: Cz50 Cz52 decocker disable

The Cz50/52 decocker is notoriously unreliable and often will fire the gun when the decocker is used. This is especially true when using the Harrington firing pin system which disables the firing pin safety.

I decided to disable the decocker in mine that have the Harrington firing pin. I ordered NOS safety levers on eBay (~$15ea) and modified them to remove the decock cam lobe. Afterwards I cold blued the bare steel (not shown).

This is what you need to remove to disable the decocker. This is the same mod for Cz50/Vz70 and Cz52. I used a Dremel with a milling type bit.

This is what it looks like before cold blue was applied (shown next to an unmodified part):

    Thanks for posting the pictures
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
    (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Note that after the change, the manual of arms becomes kinda similar to a 1911. You will obviously have to manually let the hammer down should that ever be needed.

Also, the safety lever will go to the decock position and stay there until you pull the trigger, which will put the lever back on safe. You can also move the selector back to safe. The gun will not fire unless the selector is on FIRE.

Also note that the trigger block on the safety lever is a fairly flimsy arrangement, and I would not trust it either. It is just that little nub on the end of the drum, which blocks movement of the trigger bar. This is not a gun you would want to carry cocked and locked. Carrying it with a round in the chamber at all is a dicey prospect unless you have no other choice.

There is a little more info on the CZ50/52 safety and decocker issue here
Important safety information on CZ-52 and CZ-50/70 pistols, including firing pin block safety wear and firing pin replacement and safety

I have too many guns to try and remember that some may have a safety issue, so disabling the de-cocker was the best for me. While the three rules of gun safety may prevent you from hurting someone should the de-cocker fire the gun, there will be no saving your underwear should it happen unexpectedly
