    DGR Guns Permanently closed?!

This whole week I've been down when I learned that DGR guns closed permanently. Since 2005 I've sent best up M1 Garands and other CMP rifles to them for restorations.

I was looking into sending my M1 Carbine and 03 Springfiekd when I saw their business was listed as "permanently closed" on Google.

Having been a customer of theirs for 15 years I was dejected, of course.

But now I am in search of a business that can approximate what they did.

So my 2 questions are this, :

    1) What happened to DGR guns?
    2) Where can I send my guns to get them restored to the same quality as DGR?

    Thanks

Yeah Dean died not long after I sent them my rack grade M1 to restore. His wife had preceeded him and like so many other good men, he didn't last long after sge went. I am thinking 2016? He had a young woman apprentice who he had been training up, I don't know what she is up to now.
They did a phenomenal job on my M1 and I am glad I got it in their before everything fell apart. May he RIP.

I know he passed, but they kept the business going. I had them do a couple of stocks for me. Had no idea they were going to kill the business.

Both the husband and wife passed away, the apprentice ran it for several years. Maybe it got to be too much for her to run by herself but that is only speculation.

Their focus seemed to be stocks with some parkerizing. I used them about 10 years ago when Dean was still alive to reparkerize a M1 carbine. He kept trying to up sell me on a "full restoration package". It really put me off and I didn't send anything else to him.

He filled a need but his marketing all seemed to be word of mouth.

Since then I have been using http://shuffsparkerizing.com/
He does what I ask and I am about to send him off another one for a barrel swap.

I sent Dean a CMP receiver, a take off barrel, a Beretta bolt and the bits to complete the bolt. All I wanted him to do was install the barrel, parkerize the receiver and assemble the bolt. He called me quite concerned that the bolt wasn't going to match the color of the receiver and did the bolt and barrel too for the cost quoted for just the receiver. He did ask me if I wanted the wood for the rifle but when I told him I had a set we was good. I liked his work and was sorry to hear that both he and his wife had passed on.
