    Fire Damage

    This is tough to see. Came across these in several auctions on Gunbroker, only a few of many by the same seller. All scorched from the recent wildfires that swept through Oregon. What a loss...

    That is from the same lot as a damaged SVT40.

        Painful. I think the only use for them would be as a wall hanger. Scrub it down, add new wood, give it the Mitchells Mauser treatment (historical accuracy doesn't matter at this point), and at least give it the appearance of it's former glory.

                That would be very unwise, the metallurgy will have been altered by all that heat. No guarantees of safety, I believe the auction descriptions say as much.
