I have tried to focus around WWI but suffer from little money and oh cool thats cheap I gotta have that. Of course the OLL thing now--gotta have it since they don't want me to. However, those WWI 18" bayonets are cool!

Dang nice bunch of Enfields up there ^

For me I prefer the K31, I have 2 of those. And Mausers. I would love to get an M1 Garand, but a Korean war veteran friend of mine told me that it's reputation was not really deserved. I of course, being 22, and never having been in combat cried "Blasphemy!" but he insisted that carrying and using one in combat is much different than going to a range and showing off to your friends. Sure it might be a status symbol for us post war born folks, but I still would love one. So I got the next best thing 40s-50s' semi auto wise and got an SKS.

It's funny, I've always been a C&R guy but didn't know it....I started out when I was a teen-ager with a Brit .303, then a M1 Carbine. Later in life I picked up a few here and there. I scored an M1 Garand from DCM in '90. When I got divorced in '93 I could no longer afford name-brand guns, so I started buying Mosin-Nagants at Big-5. Hell, even I could afford a $49 rifle, and ammo was just as cheap. I picked up some really nice Finn M39's and a few Italian Carcanos. I refurbished a few, and even sporterized a Turk Mauser, as a project gun. In those days, cost was a big factor. Things are much better now, but I still have a soft spot for old Army guns.

I would love to collect more US rifles like Garands or 1903A3s, but I think I am a few decades late. Can't find any for less than $400.

cmp still has rack and field grade in that price range http://www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/m1garand.htm#Field
