Verifying a TYpe 03 (C&R) FFL

For those wondering how to verify a Type 03 FFL, their are several places you can call. The one I have found the easiest is the BATF eZCheck toll free telephone number, 1-877-560-2435.

I just finished verifying a license and it took a total of 35 seconds from the time the phone started to ring at BATF until I hung up with the verification.

They ask for the first 3 and last 5 numbers of the FFL. Then they ask you the name and address on the FFL. They will then verify if the license is valid and give the expiration date.

It's quick and easy.

that is what they need to do for the ez-check website. It used to be that you could just type in (guess) an FFL number and get the name/address of that FFL, including 03s. So, some 03s complained about the privacy issue and being able to check 03 status was removed from the website.

If they would have just adjusted the website so that you had to type in the # and some matching addresss info that was on the paper copy of the 03 FFL, then they should verify it. Since you already have the name/address on the FFL, confirming it isn't a big deal. But having the website GIVE out the address to anybody who can guess the FFL # is different.
