any Makarov owners here ?

My FIL (now deceased) had a small gun shop west of San Antonio - besides selling/buying/gun smithing he did refinishing. He refinished this East German Makarov with what he called "Black Chrome" and then gave it to me. It's a "shooter" but sits in my safe for long periods



so that my Wife wouldn't feel left out I purchased this Bulgarian (from AIM Surplus) and had it Hard Chromed - grips on both pistols were made by a fellow in Europe (Marschal Grips in Budapest Hungary) and I did my best to refinish both

Only have one, a Bulgarian I picked up a couple years ago for $200.

I have a Russian commercial Mak in .380 with Marschal grips.

that's a clean looking Bulgarian - I've got a few Holsters and a number of sets of the Bakelite Grips in a bag, somewhere

do you shoot it ? only complaint I've got with the Maks is the sights - so small that they turn the pistol into a "guess, point and shoot" gun

my E German is a '63 model (BPxxxx-xx) - it's suggested that the E Germans produced the finest Maks (but the Bulgarian is nice too..)

Also have a Bulgarian Makarov. It's actually a pretty fun shooter, especially since 9x18mm is still relatively easy for me to find and doesn't go flying off the shelves at the moment.

Only disappointment I have with it is the giant import marks slapped on the center of the right side of the slide; would've preferred it if they had found someplace less eye-catching.

I have shot it. They are a bit overbuilt for the 9x18 but because of that they are a fairly soft shooting little pistol.
