What is this?

I found this rusted relic laying in the mud at an old lumber mill outside Tegucigalpa, Honduras in early '86, and am hoping you all can help me identify it. I haven't even tried identfying it from photos on the web, as I figured it would be more fun to include others in the job.

Okay, here is the puzzle I brought back from Somalia in the mid-80's. I found it sticking out of the sand at the firing range at their Army HQ just outside Mogadishu. It looks like it's been run over by a tank. The trigger guard is mangled and the barrel is bent. There was no furniture. Got any ideas what it might be?

A word of caution

The rolling block "may" still have a cartridge in the chamber. Black powder stays active for a LONG time. If it gets wet, when it dries out it'll still go boom. Probably just my paranoia showing through but, paranoia has served me well lo these many years.

I, unlike a good many EOD people, still have all my fingers.
