C&R Bound Book recording for Black Powder or Antiques?

Are FFL03+COE holders required to keep track of BP or antiques? Also, in general are they required to track anything that was acquired pre license or after the license expires? thanks!

Bound book is for C&R firearms acquired during the license period only. No BP, antiques, newer firearms, or those obtained before the license period. Even if DROS'd, the C&R firearm goes in the bound book.

When I had my C&R (thinking about getting one again) I kept the bound book for C&R purchases using the license and a personal book for everything else.
Back in the 90's there were plenty of shops in CA that wouldn't honor the C&R so some of my C&R's were purchased normally.

Just to clarify something, You do not use your license, you are licensed.

478.125(f) Firearms receipt and disposition by licensed collectors. Each licensed collector shall enter into a record each receipt and disposition of firearms curios or relics. The record required by this paragraph shall be maintained in bound form under the format prescribed below. The purchase or other acquisition of a curio or relic shall, except as provided in paragraph (g) of this section, be recorded not later than the close of the next business day following the date of such purchase or other acquisition. The record shall show the date of receipt, the name and address or the name and license number of the person from whom received, the name of the manufacturer and importer (if any), the model, serial number, type, and the caliber or gauge of the firearm curio or relic.
"Each receipt and disposition" means exactly that. It doesn't say "each receipt not on a 4473". If you buy or sell a C&R while you are licensed, it goes in the book, even if your DROS it.

Most 03 C&R FFL "bound books" are called " Records of acquisitions and dispositions".

As A 03 C&R FFL licensee you can do three things:

            1. "Acquire" C&R firearms into your collection.
            2. "Hold" C&R firearms in your collection.
            3. "dispose" of C&R firearms from your collection.

In effect you are a "museum".

You are the "curator" of your C&R collection.

Yes. Your bound book is indifferent to 4473's and DROS's. If you "acquire" it, it goes in the book.

When you are a Federally licensed collector of C&R firearms it's a Federal crime to not log every C&R firearm you acquire by whatever means Into your bound book.

DROSing and filling out a 4473 is meaningless, and has nothing to do with the Federal requirement that as a licensed collector you have to enter each and every C&R firearms you acquire into your bound book.

                  There are no exceptions.

When you applied for your C&R license you accepted all the rules and regulations. You also acknowledged that you knew all the laws and rules.

                  There is no grey area.

See 478.125(f) quoted above in post #5.
