I need some weird LiveScan help!

I could use your knowledge today if you can help, I would appreciate it. I want to get my FFL3 in CA. First step as I understand it is LiveScan. I go the live scan with my pre-printed form and the lady there asked me what the code is to transmit it. She thinks it is: AB165.

Does anyone happen to know what code they need? I have no idea what she is talking about, but I have to figure it our or risk wasting the application and fee.

You dont need a live scar for your 03FFL....you need the livescan for your Certificate of Eligibility......

Like the previous comment. You don't need a livescan for your 03ffl. When you apply for your COE, that code will be prefilled for the livescan location.

Am I doing this wrong? I am leaning towards just submitting it as AB165.

Yes you're doing it differently and taking unneeded steps.

If you only want an 03ffl, You don't NEED a coe to have an 03ffl. 03ffl isn't very effective in CA without the coe.

If you want an 03ffl, you don't need to take a livescan. You can go out of the state and buy C&R firearms.

If you want to order ammo to your door step or take C&R items home with you in CA from an 01ffl, you'll need a coe which requires a livescan with a COE code in it. You can get that form from CFARS when making the application.

That would require 03ffl AND certificate of eligibility (COE) 2 separate documents together.

I went to the CFARs website and tried to create an account and it wont even create one. Just returns an error message. Is CA making it jacked up on purpose?

03FFL is completely separate from the coe process. I got my 03ffl first then got my coe.

It has been a few years since my first FFL03 but back them I needed fingerprint cards for the federal.

Not required for the 03ffl. For other type ffls it's required.

OK I got a CFARs account created. When I clicked on apply for COE it aked if I have submitted LiveScan yet. So hopefully it will not matter which I do first. So I told the livescan lady to send it.
