Looking for advice on 1858 Rem

OK, I'm lusting for one of these. Saw Cabela's had some for $199 and then I saw the Uberti stainless models for about $370. I really like stainless w/ the brass trigger guard. Who makes good 1858's and who should I avoid? Best place to buy, etc?

    Thanks!

Pietta and Uberti are the only manufacturers at this point, and they both make a good product. It's kind of like the Rem 870/Mossy 500 argument. Check out Dixie Gun Works, Cimmarron, Cabelas and S&S Firearms for prices. Nice thing is, you pay your money, and UPS delivers it to your door!

I got mine from Cabelas a few years back. Great quality and the price there seemed to be the best. I did not get stainless, but as long as you clean it relatively soon after firing you will not have a problem. Some even spray down with Windex while at the range...

I liked mine so much I went ended up getting a Pietta 1860 Colt on gunbroker (used). They're easy to maintain, and you can get a replacement kit to for springs, hammer, and other internals.
I love it when a plan comes together.
