Morning Gents, and happy quarantine!
When I get down in prone, and plant my cheekbone on my M1 Garand stock, my eyeball is looking dead center of... the line where the back of the receiver goes down into the stock.
It seems my cheekbones are not General Issue, and sit way too high, causing my eyeball to sit waaaay too low. On an AR I can not use the 1.5" standard height scope mounts, the only thing that works is the nightforce A190, but at least I have something!
I've tried to combat this by placing my cheekbone on my trigger-hand thumb as it comes over the wrist of the stock but that is fiddly and still a bit too low.
Can any of you guys recommend a way to raise up the comb height that preserves the handsome lines of the M1?
I would prefer not to do the drilled kydex adjustable riser, but maybe a nice laced leather job?
Or if you know of a company makes a stock inlet for M1 that offers adjustment to the cheek?
To make matters worse, I'm entertaining a scout-scope set up (leupold fixed 2.5x) with an ultimak which means I'll need another 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rise above what I already need.
Any help appreciated!
