Why does it take the DOJ so long to approve renewal of our COE? Their time line is anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. Time to vote the bastards out of office.

My last two COE renewals have been processed in 24hrs.
All COE apps and renewals MUST be done via CFARS now. They do not accept anything by mail anymore, it was passed in a new law.Comment

My renewal in October took 1 day. Don't wait for the certificate to show up in the mail, they don't do that anymore. Check your account online. Any correspondence is done there. If you're gtg then download your certificate and print it out.
Sent from my moto g(7) power using TapatalkMan, this place has gone bonkers.Comment

All my prior coe renewals took 24hrs or less but the DOJ is saying that my current renewal will take between 4 and 8 weeks. I renewed and uploaded my drivers license via cfars. I am currently locked out of dros until they process the renewal.Comment

Are you a 01 or 07 FFL? There have been stories recently of FFLs being locked out of DES because of delayed COE processing.
Be sure and renew 60 days before expiration. Do not delay. 60 days, not 59 or 58, not 57 nor 56... etcComment

I renewed this year online as soon as I was able. Still waiting weeks later. Submitted an issue in CFARS and got a response from DOJ that they are taking up to 8 weeks now...same experience as the OPComment

If they take 8 weeks (56 days) and you renew 60 days before expiration, then there is nothing to worry about. If you delay the renewal though, look out.
60 days before expiration. Set a reminder on your phone, the day you get your renewal - to renew 60 days before the next expiration. Tell your wives and children. Tell your neighbors. 60 days before expiration you should be on it. Don’t risk leaving your customers in the lurch because you got locked out of DES waiting on a COE renewal that you put off.
60 days before expiration. Take care of it.
And 90 or 120 days before expiration (which is 30 to 60 days before renewal day) - for the love of all that is Holy log into CFARS and be sure you have access. Do not wait until 60 days (renewal day) to find out you are locked out of CFARS over some password mixup or email issue.Last edited by SkyHawk; 02-05-2020, 10:34 PM.Comment

I am an 07. I renewed as soon as I could get back into cfars. The DOJ finally got their email server setup to use industry standard encryption. My password had expired but I couldn't reset it until they fixed their email server. But the food news is that they processed mine and my wife's coe renewals some time today.
I find it funny that they processed my cfd renewal the day after they got it. The cfd was sent priority mail and was processed within 24 hours of them receiving it, but the coe took 3 weeks when it is submitted online.Comment

And fools keep paying and listening to the excuses. when is everyone going to demand a decent system for the amounts of money you pay for all your licenses, increased DROS, and other so-called fees? It is amazing the excuses DOJ can come up to and even hand them out to the assembly and senate people that represent you. And everyone wonders why more and more people are dropping out of the system. between all the licenses, fees, and taxes how much extra do you pay yearly for each gun exchange or ammo purchase you make in a year.Comment

Well I received my renewal hours after posting this yesterday...kinda spooky... but in the end it took about 4 weeks. Not that bad for a government process. But yes, we should all renew early.Comment

Exactly what I'm going through now.Comment
