COE turnaround time: 16 days

Sent the app/did Livescan on April 9th and received the COE on April 25th - Happy Birthday to me!.

Pretty quick I think...

Picked up 2 RC P38s (Sarco), a Romanian TTC and a 1936 Tula Nagant revolver (J&G Sales) on Monday.

Was not looking forward to waiting four months to pick up these pistols...

Can you get one, or is there any benefit to one, if you don't also get a C&R 03?

It only works with the 03 C&R.

Yes, simply because the lead time on the C&R is longer and you can't use the COE until you have the C&R.

I did my Livescan 4-22, In Sacramento's hands on 4-26.

Can't wait to see it in my hands.

How did you present your COE, I was informed by my local dealer that he won't release a C&R pistol to me, even with the 03 and COE. Said I still need to wait the 10 day.

Probably won't be using him to much anymore.

I took the original certificate with me and the dealer made a copy of it. We had discussed 10 day wait and buying multiple C&R handguns at the same time before I applied for the COE.

Being able to pick up four C&R pistols at one time as opposed to waiting four months at 1 per 30 days made me decide to get the COE.

Just spoke to the Bureau of Firearms:

Application was processed and approved two days ago.

Sent out in the mail yesterday. (So sent on 4-22 in hands hopefully 5-9)

Should get it soon.

Does that mean you can't even apply for the COE until you have your C&R license? Or just that there's no point applying until you do since you get no benefits?
