    Happy 100th Birthday

My Colt New Service was shipped on December 22nd 1919 to the William H. Hoegee company in Los Angeles. I figured I'd get a jump on the birthday celebration now!

It is in amazing shape for a 100 year old revolver, with only some wear on the back strap of the grip frame and a few scratches here and there. Locks up as tight as the day it was made!

I bought it from a Calgunner in 2010 along with an equal condition .38 pocket auto which I had to sell to buy something else some time ago.

I find it amazing that this revolver stayed so close to home for 90 years when I bought it. Now it is on the other side of the country.

No better handgun was ever made than a Colt New Service. You can't bust 'em unless you're trying to. I've had NSs that were made in the first year of manufacture (1898) and were tight as a gnat's opercle. And these were military .455s that had been around the world and had the English and Islamic markings to prove it....

Have fun with it and for heaven's sake SHOOT it!

My 1st gun, a new 1965 Remington Model 66 was purchased from Western Hoegee. Pop bought it when I was 10. My uncle was buddies with the manager there and got stuff near cost. I had no idea they were around that long. Back on topic, Happy birthday baby!
