what's the ideal ammo to use in the Tokarev SVT-40? unfortunately i don't own one as of yet, but am actively looking into it. just curious if there's anything they like more than another. i imagine light ball would be preferable, as that seems to be the popular thing for PSL's and Dragunovs, but i honestly don't know. i've got a fair supply of surplus for my mosins including some bulgy light ball(149ish grain) and some russian heavy ball. like to get this figured out so i know what to set aside for what, as well as what to sight my mosin sporter project in with once i get the scope mounted. all information appreciated.

SVT-40 ammo?

I'd recommend sticking with the light ball for the reasons you mention, but aside from that, mine eats anything I feed it.
Russian, Chinese, Bulgy, Romanian, it doesn't matter."Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook PeglerComment

The Numrich aftermarket mags don't like the rough finish copper washed cases for feeding, but anything that's brass or lacquer coated will go through it like a bug through a goose.
Accuracy wise, mine likes the Russian and Polish light ball, but of course they're copper washed!
