I picked up this little .44 Bulldog in an estate sale.
My knowledge of them, was that they were heavily copied and licensed little English revolvers.
I do not collect Bulldogs so this one went up on GB with a $350 opening bid - no reserve.
There was a LOT of interest in the auction - numerous questions and requests for more photos.
A little extra research and a discussion with the winner this morning, revealed this to be a very short run American made, 2nd variation and licensed version, of the British Bulldog produced by Forehand & Wadsworth - (Yeah, no one tells you while there auction is running, lol.)
Factory engraving and factory pearl grips, one of two known.
The engraving style, serial number and placement thereof, pearl grips and lack of European proof mark all confirm this.
