    C&R Rifle question

My pops passed 8 years ago and while going through his prized collectibles I came across three old 7mm Spanish Mauser's. What would be my best course of legal action for selling/disposing of these? Two look rough but the action functions as should. One looks as if he took better care of it. I have no sales records of these. I'm not sure where he got them. (garage sale) And have no idea how to get rid of them. Any legal advise would be appreciated.

As long as they’re not stolen it shouldn’t be an issue to ppt them. A lot of stuff was acquired before registration.

I just sold a 7mm Spanish mauser a couple days ago to another Calgunner. Got any pics?

On a ppt does the buyer need a FFL 03? Pics on the way.

If the buyer has a 03FFL and a COE it's cash and carry. If not the transfer must go through a 01FFL.

That one with the Star of David is a German made one. You sure it’s still 7mm? The Israelis usually rebarrelled them in 7.62.

They look pretty decent from the pics. If the 1893 is in original configuration it’s an antique and doesn’t need any ffl. But check into that because I can’t tell from the pics if it’s been modified.

The star of David was Loewes trademark, not an indication of the Israelis getting it at some point.
Having to be in original configuration for a milsurp is a C&R requirement, not an issue with antique firearms.
              Nice Mausers.

Thanks for reply men. Then it would be legal for me to list these for sale on my own? Sold only to a buyer who has a 03FFL and a COE. And is there anyone in Sacramento area I could bring these rifles to for a value/configuration assessment? I have done some quick research on the history of these Mauser rifles. But my brain is too small to retain ALL of that information. I even researched having one sporterized for myself. Then the wife stepped in.

You can sell to someone with an 03&COE or to anyone else. If it is to someone else, you'll just have to meet at a local FFL and the buyer will have to DROS it through them.

For valuation, I don't have any advice other than to spend an hour or two researching on your own, if you have any interest in it. I enjoy learning the history and variations of that kind of stuff, but understand most probably don't nerd out like I do.

I bought a nice one last year for $200 shipped from Tennessee. That's a great round with light recoil. I found a commercial reloader in Salmon, Idaho that built some nice loads, but there's ammo to be found...at times.

I'd be interested in that Lowes, since it's antique, and I'm close enough to Sac for a one time run. This where the 10 day wait with 2 trips to FFL, can be the deal breaker for inexpensive rifles. Fees, Fuel, & Time, or shipping on the sellers end. PAX

you can get an ok idea of average value on gunbroker. Only if you search for completed auctions not ones in progress. You want to know what they actually sell for, not the ones that have been relisted a dozen times because nobody will buy it for the ridiculous price. There's a lot of that.

In my ears I'm hearing just bury them in the back yard or part them out on eBay. LOL! Thanks for offer echo1.
