If you can rebore it to 9mm caliber you can fire the ever-abundant 9x19mm ammunition out of the gun (assuming the springs in the gun are in-spec and there is no damage to the bolt stop or the barrel extension behind the bolt stop) for a nice little blaster, but I'm not sure who does 9mm rebores for Broomhandles anymore.

I'd definitely wait to see the results of firing it. Some sewer pipes actually shoot better than pristine bores. I think you got it for a good price even if it needs relining.

If you rebore it to 9mm, you'll probably end up having to chop off the old barrel and then the finish will be destroyed. If you only spend 275, it would be for the reline only. If you rebarrel to 9mm and have a total restoration with Lugerman, you'll most certainly be at $1,000+ in.

FWIW, Skyhawk - I have a shooter grade Red 9 - 5.5" 9mm model, with a SN # in the Red 9 contract range, (refinished and slightly sanitized - the markings on the top and the SN # on the barrel are gone), but all the SN #'s match minus the locking frame piece that the hammer sits into, (though I do have the original matching one that is broken) and the grips that are old repros and un-numbered. I paid $600 for it, and mechanically it's good, but the bore is gone, counterbored probably 1.5-2" and pitted at the end. Lugerman and I decided it'd be best to chop the barrel and replace it entirely, so I sent it off to Lugerman on 8-2, and it made it there 8/6. I received an email on 8/24 that he did indeed receive it and would replace the barrel and function test in the next three weeks (from then). Fast forward to 10/4 I have yet to hear anything further. It seems that he's the best/last hope for 9mm bore repair, but I hope that the wait won't be too much longer. From what I hear he sometimes takes in too much work so the wait times can be a long time, depending on the work. I know of a guy who's having a full restoration done, and he said that the C96 has been in Lugerman's shop for two years now. I certainly hope that this won't be the case for my much more "Simple" barrel replacement job.
