    Rasheed serial numbers

I spent today in the gun safe, admiring my curio and relic rifles and wiping them down with a light coat of oil. I pulled out my Rasheed and realized that there was no serial number on the rifle.

After a little research on the internet, I found most Rasheeds have an electro stencil serial number penciled in below the Egyptian lettering. Mine does not. Curious, I found some information that I wanted to post here and be searchable for future Rasheed owners.

    Here's my rifle:

    Here's the Egyptian serial number:

    Again:

And the buttplate s/n (appears to be non-matching):

As I said in the previous post, the electo stencil serial number is absent. Here is a conversion chart I found on the internet:

    IMG_1185.jpg

To the best of my knowledge, my serial number is 4158.

This is what I found on the internet today. None of this is verified, so take it with a grain of salt.

    7000-8000 Rasheeds were built
Serial numbers around 1420-2125 were built in 1966
Serial numbers around 2174-3586 were built in 1967
Serial numbers around 3636-8391 were built in 1968.

I'm still working on the buttplate number. I assume they should match, but maybe not.

My receiver and markings and stock are all rougher than yours. My serial numbers are structured the same, but I've got electropenciled numbers on the side of the receiver in front of the arabic numbers. (See pic #1)

Please check your stock to see if there are remnants of painted markings that have been removed. (See below, my rifle has the faint outline and this other one still has it's marking.)

These are really cool and rare rifles and I believe they are way under appreciated and way under priced.

No paint marks on mine. I also pulled my Hakim out of the safe also. Same lack of electro stencil (pencil) serial numbers. Also seems that the buttplate has a different number than the receiver.

        Egyptian Hakim:

        Receiver lack of electro stencil:

Funny, I couldn't see the serial number on the rifle (Hakim) but I can faintly make it out in my photo.

Your rifle is original and has never been refinished. The OP's rifle has had it's stock sanded and refinished and the metal parts refinished. The hand guard was also drilled.

Was thinking the same, and likely why the electro-pencil serial is gone.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

Some early post 1986 imports used the Arabic numbers as SN's. Later they were required to have "English" numbers for the SN.

The first Hakim below just has the Arabic numbers. It also has no importer markings The second one has the electro-pencil translation added and does have importer markings.

I have 3 Rasheeds and 2 Hakims. If I get some time, I'll post some detailed pics just for comparison. Below are some old photos showing only the 2 Rasheeds and 2 Hakims. I picked up another Rasheed last year and should update these.

Better yet, I should do a "family" shot of them all along with my very nice Egyptian FN49.
