No way to dros oldies with no sn

So I went to a shop to consign a couple old guns with that had no serial numbers and the manager said that the system (starting July 2019) currently has no way to submit that. He called the doj and they didn't have an answer for him. So I said then I can't even ppt these and he says no. Now that means I can't even sell them to an 03/coe as there's no way to enter them into cfars. I havent looked on the website yet if there is a field for no sn like there used to be.

Anyone run into this situation or have any ideas?

I have bought and sold a bunch of pre 68 guns with no serial numbers. I just put "NOSERIAL" in the serial number space. Had no problems at all.

You may have to just not deal with that shop. A good FFL should know how to do this, as there are oodles and oodles of unserialed, legal firearms around, especially pre 68 22s.

I have bought several from shops and none of them had any issue. Done PPTs as well and sold some to 03s and sent DOJ the forms. Never had an issue.

To clarify, I mean recent as in since July 1, 2019 when the new software hit the stores.

Bought an old pre-1968 .22lr bolt action rifle with no serial number last year. On my paperwork, it said "NVSN" (No Visible Serial Number) in the field where the serial number goes. It was at Little John's in City of Orange if that helps.

Ditto. I bought a SN-less Remington 521 .22 bolt action not too long ago (a tackdriver, by the way) and FFL just noted that in the paperwork. No problemo.

So you mean when they added the ammo registration thing, they somehow deleted the option to DROS a gun with no serial numbers? In that case Cal DoJ just needs to get their act together and fix their own system.

Unless the SERIAL NUMBER field has disappeared since July 1, how would it matter??

If there is still a field for a serial number (and let's be clear - **THERE IS**) - then use NOSERIAL or NVSN or NSN etc in that field.

There was never any 'special way' or specific action or separate option to DROS a gun without a serial, you simply put something to the effect of NO SERIAL in the serial field.

The serial number field will accept any alpha/numeric characters. Like NOSERIAL. What am I missing?

Personally if a guy has a FEDERALLY ISSUED BY THE BATF CR FFL and a valid dl he should still be able to buy any cr firearms...hell you can drive around the usa with those 2 pieces, buy and bring back, self reg... i cant comprehend how that is fine BUT in IN STATE a cr lic holder has to deal with a type 1 ffl ppt xfr...such bs...

Pre 2014 sometime a cr holder could still have cr rifles and handguns shipped to him cr to cr or reg ffl to cr...basically tell cadoj to go suck it hard..

I have no idea. It's not as if I was looking at the manager's screen at the shop. All he said was that typing in antique or whatever he used to do wasn't working. He then called doj and they had no words of advice. So he said he couldn't transfer my guns.

I asked the ffl forum and I got a reply that said "antique2" is the new way to do it. I'll have to pass the word along and see what happens. Thanks for all the replies.
