Need help ID'ing this rifle. Edit: it's a Murata. More pics added.

I was asked to help liquidate an estate. The fellow was into old English motorcycles, Matchless, BSA, and Ariel. We came across a few rifles (270 Weatherby Magnum, Remington Model 31, Winchester Model 52) which I'll be posting for sale in the near future.

This particular one, has me stumped. I think it's an Arisaka but I'm not versed into those rifles. I haven't found any images online with this muzzle. Here are the pics. If you can give me a ballpark value, that would be helpful. Or, I'll check in with an other forum.

More Pics added. See Post #12

If you need other images that might help with ID, just ask.

Yep, Type 22 Murata. Looks to be in pretty nice shape, too.

Yes it looks to be in very nice condition and with the bayonet is probably a score for some collector. But I have no idea on the values of these. You need to find the place where the Murata guys hang out.

There are some markings on the stock but not like the ones I've seen in the links. I'll need to get some more pics up.

              That bayonet is pretty cool.

I listed the rifle incorrectly on my sheet when presenting to some buyers. I would have sold it for <$400, not knowing what it was. I knew that the "mum" was slightly different from the Arisaka and the muzzle wasn't on any pics I've seen. I just didn't know of the other Imperial Japanese rifle mfg.

Does it have the bolt head? If you see a firing pin sticking out of the end, it's missing the bolt head.

The high dollar one had all matching numbers, which is super rare.

                Realistic auction values are roughly:
                Missing bolt head $500-800
                Non matching numbers complete $900-1400
                Matching numbers complete $1500-2000+

The last type 22 bayonet sold for about $320 on ebay.

They're worth money, not pie in the sky money.
Yours has the intact top wood, which is good. I can't see if it has the bolt head from your pictures though.

Most have intact mums, so that's not much of a factor on these.

Thanks for taking us to Murata school! Now I know what to be on the lookout for if I ever come across one of these.

So OP - close that bolt halfway and post a pic of the front face of the bolt, now we all want to see if the bolt head is there

The Bolt doesn't match the Receiver.

It has the bolt head, but is missing the ejector, extractor, and at least one of the butt cap screws.
Contact Don Schlickman, he has most of the parts you need (modern reproductons).

Also, pull up on that little slotted piece at the top of the butt cap- it opens upwards. There should be a cleaning rod inside. Surprisingly, most of these rifles have the rod in there.

Also, the handguard is a desirable thing to have but yours has a pretty good sized crack at the rear. They were delicate and prone to break.

You'll also need an extractor spring, I think it's missing too.

And check the magazine to see if the follower, spring, and liner tube are in place.
