Bringing ammo from California back in state

    Hiya!
First time poster here, I'm wondering how the new California laws work regarding ammunition. I'm flying to Hawaii in a few weeks to go hog hunting with a friend of mine who owns property out there, and I want to bring my special handloaded ammunition with me for my older Mauser. I'm probably going to bring 20 rounds with me, but I don't want to leave any of it behind if I don't shoot it. Is it legal for me to bring back ammunition from another state that I purchased or made in California, and if so, where is it written in our "wonderful" laws?
    Thanks!

Yes up to 50 rounds. Who is going to check TSA has no say in it as long as not more than 11 pounds. Just take what you need with some spares and kill your animal and come home. Take game on as carryon in zip locks In a bag. I di couple times last year from el paso with ducks and dove and quail.

Make sure it appears to be factory ammo. Some TSA will not allow you to fly with ammo that is loose (which is what the law says) and some will not allow you to fly with ammo that isn't in a factory box (which is not what the law says). CA doesn't care about less than 50 rounds.

      Have fun!
