    Swedish Ljungman reloading

My sons and I shoot in a semi-monthly semi auto military silhouette match. We usually shoot Ljungmans, but occasionally will use a Hakim or Garand.

I've been using 36 grains of IMR 4064/140 gr Nosler Custom Competition
I'm also hitting about 5" above point of aim @ 100 yards with this load. My point of aim is 6 o'clock "pumpkin on a post". Both our Ljungmans have the +0.5 front sight.

Usually have a nice group and a flyer. This is typical...

    [/QUOTE]

Recently began to refine my Ljungman loads. I reduced the powder charge from 36.0 to 34.5 grs of 4064, with Nosler 140 gr CC bullets, Prvi brass, CCI 34 primers, OAL 3.015. This shrank my groups a bit. It also tamed the extraction/ejection sequence a bit.

    5 shot groups @ 100 yards

Yeah this is good info. I have shot my Ljungman in a match as well with PPU match ammo and did pretty well.

I've got several Hakims and have started to experiment with loads for that one also. Will update.

How did the PPU match ammo do in the Ljungman? It uses a lighter bullet (120 gr?) and may have a different powder than the heavier loads.

I didn't shoot it for groups, but it was very consistent out to 500 meters. I had to do deep 6 oclock hold on closer distances because it was throwing those lighter bullets pretty high.
The only way the rifle could be any better is with better sights. Boy those sights suck.

I have a whole bunch of those Nosler CC 140 pills that I got for real cheap a couple years back. Will have to try them out.

I find the sight picture to be OK...it is the lack of settings between the cardinal distances (100, 200, 300 m's) that I do not like.

Just FYI I had no problem knocking down the rams at 500 meters. So at least there was enough energy to accomplish that task with the PPU.

Thanks. That is good to know.

In the vintage military calibers, the 6.5x55 usually has the most trouble with the rams. Although, I have had ringers with a 200 gr 8mm bullet that left the muzzle @ 2500 fps.

I got out to the range this weekend and took a few shots with my other Ljungman using the lighter loads. This time I was on the 200 yard range and I got the usual 4 decent shots and a flyer.

The 4 shot group was 2.25", or a little over 1 MOA. The flyer opened the group up to about 2 MOA. Group was shot with the rear sight set @ 100m

Got out to Sac Valley Shooting Center this week and spent some time with some rifles, including my second Ljungman. Shot it at 200 yards, with the following results...

@200 yards, as usual, decent group and a flyer. Main group about 3" or 1.5 MOA, with the flyer, about 4.75" The sights were off, obviously. I was able to adjust them and got them pretty well centered.

@200 yds, the main group was 2.5", or about 1.25 MOA. With the flyer, about 5" or 2.5 MOA.
