    Another weird impulse purchase

I love weird and different stuff and occasionally I find things that are strange even by my standards. Such is the case with this cold war era CZ flare gun. Originally designed and built at the BRNO factory to shoot rocket-assisted, barrier-penetrating teargas rounds, this weapon occupies niche just above marine flare launchers and just below true grenade launchers. With a bore of 26.5mm it is roughly equivalent to a 4 gauge shotgun. As it sits it does not require a tax stamp, but if I decide to stamp it, I can shoot all sorts of interesting rounds through it like flechettes.

It is reported that about 2500 were made and of those about 1000 made it into the US. They are beautifully made out of forged steel with nicely grained wood and commercial grade bluing. The bore is chrome lined.

It came with a couple dozen parachute and regular flares

I got it from a friend. I did see a couple on Gonebroker, one is insanely over priced and the other was more in line with what I think they are worth.

Be careful... you get into collecting flare-guns, it's like a whole 'nother genre of guns has opened up before your eyes. They're nearly all weird, and rare, and it seems there is an endless river of "...ain't never seen that before" available.

I saw that on Gunbroker recently and was pretty impressed. Didn’t know something like this existed, even cooler with the drum attached.

I picked up an HK P2A1 flare gun recently along with 25 flares for about $550. Can’t wait to get it!

Barrier penetrating teargas rounds? That sounds cool as hell.

Let me know when you get tired of it.
You can pass the weird impulse purchase along to the next junky
