    Sarco shipping for real?

Pistols to California (UPS only) about $55.00 to $60.00 + insurance

I remember a thread where a Calgunner ordered a 1911 about a month or so back and he claimed shipping was somewhere in the area of $25 dollars. Pretty standard, well i check today and I see this. $60 just to ship a pistol? For real? how can they justify this? Anyone with some insight would be appreciated, otherwise I'm assembling a pile of large rocks to throw at Sarco.

I got a good deal from sarco

Back in the end of January Sarco had a sale for RIA's. I bought a RIA 1911 Tactical for 446.00 shipped to my FFL. It was a pleasant deal they were nice and friendly over the phone. Below is the breakdown.

    34.00 for 2 novak 8 rnd mags
    384.99 for the RIA Tactical
27.01 for S/H/insurance --> Actually they advertised a $19.00 shipping charge but after insurance and handling charges it came up to $27.01

    Maybe they raised prices

They look like they are charging to have to deal with the CA law on obtaining permission prior to sending the gun.

Regardless of the overnight, $50-60 bucks is a stretch and to me an unethical one.

I bought a RIA 1911 from Sarco early last year and the shipping was twenty-something dollars.

I think I read the same thing about the requirement for pistols to be sent overnight, which is quite expensive. Distance might also be a factor in the price. Sarco is in New England somewhere........quite far away....

That's nothing! I paid $75.00 for a complete type 38 Arisaka bolt. It eventually cost me $98.00 for home delivery. Having ordered a similiar item from Poppert's and other sources before, I know that 10 bucks is about right for this shipping charge. SARCO took nearly two months to send my item. The firing pin spring isn't that good either.

It's better to try other sources before you purchase from SARCO in NJ...

The over night is a shipper's requirement for non FFLs. They will send the same pistol cheaper out side CA. More BS toward CA gun owners.

That still doesn't explain more than $20 to ship a damned trype 38 bolt. It is NOT classified as a firearm and anybody else might charge about 1/2 the price for the same item....

Yup you got screwed, but really it's the same. There's no way it cost 50-60 bucks before insurance to send anything to CA. whats the difference between CA and AZ geographically. Nada, not a damn thing. It's just greed or being too stubborn to see that they could do alot of good by helping out this large economy of ours.

I know that I got ripped off; but SARCO doesn't calculate the shipping charges, until long after you pay for your item. It will show up 2-3 months later if you are lucky. This isn't the kind of place, that I would buy from again, unless there was no other choice.

Whatever you do, never order a surplus Mauser 98K handguard from APEX in Colorado either. They sent me an oily and damaged piece, that looks nothing like what you see in their pictures...
