You all M1 Carbine Experts I need help.

I'm now have saved enough money to order one form CMP,
    Price went up a little......
So I see many different names like NATIONAL POSTAL METER,SAGINAW SG,etc. etc. ( see the link attached http://www.thecmp.org/m1carbine.htm )
& $ 695 ones are all sold out such as WINCHESTER,SAGINAW S'G' (GRAND RAPIDS) Etc. Etc.
Are they all same in quality or the values ?
Is one better then other ?
& if there any thing I need to know before I order one from CMP ?
as you can tell, It is my very first time buying C&R stuff.

      Yes Sir,
I don't have C&R lic. so I'm planning to go down to the range & have range officer signs the paper,
      & join http://www.thegca.org/membership.htm for markmanship.

Here's a link that shows who made them during WW2 and how many they made. Really interesting to see some of the names.

Mainly because Winchester was a long time gun maufactures and IBM was not.

It's the name. That's all. I like Inlands. They were just as well built but since they constitute the plurality of M1 Carbines they are less expensive. If you are a collecter, collect for resale price. If you are a shooter, collect for price and quality.

BTW, Inland was a division of GM.

None are original or IMHO really collectable since thay have ALL been rebuilt and are in fair-good condition. That said they are GI and are a much better investment than any of the clons made years ago. the winchester name has more general apeal and would sell for more otherwise get whatever you like.

I think that condition of the mechanicals is more important than the name. I have many of the different manufacturers (Winchester, IBM, Rock-ola, etc.) and they all seem to shoot about the same, depending on barrel condition.

Unless the carbine has the early rear flip-sight (almost all of the CMP carbines that I've seen have been upgraded), the manufacturers name, and sometimes the serial number is covered by the adjustable rear sight, anyway.

With a service grade you're pretty much assured of a good shooting carbine, but I've also had good luck with rack graders.
If you want one for shooting rather than collecting the brand names, then you can't beat Inland for the price.
