How much is a Universal carbine worth?

The earlier carbines are commercial receivers built with USGI parts. Those generally are worth a bit more, and may indeed have some desireable parts. Still, Universal's are near the bottom of the barrel, and $650 would be a good selling price for your friend. -
OP, I don't know about the value of Universal M1 carbines, but the later ones produced had design changes that made parts incompatible with USGI spec M1 carbines. This definitely may lessen the value in the eyes of many M1 carbine buyers.

The later Universals I have seen at shops usually in the $300-350 range.sigpic

Way too high for a Universal. No collector interest and marginal function based on what I've read over the years. I have had issues with postwar carbines. But USGI carbines run like crap through a goose.Comment
