Marlin 336

I picked up the attached at a NJ auction, I was online; C&R Marlin 336 with a Redfield 4 power scope.

The mag tube and to some extent the barrel appear to have bluing degredation (photos). Like someone had something that chemically reacted to the bluing; turns to brown but I can't feel it with a fingernail.

Kroil and bronze wool or are there different options?

Truck gun?

Rub some cold blue over it to see if that touches it up. If there is no texture you can feel with a fingernail I wouldn't use anything abrasive on it. It probably sat in contact with a bag or was wrapped up for a long time
