When you bring a C&R pistol into CA from another state, and complete the DOJ registration form do you receive notification that the DOJ has registered your gun?

Yes, you eventually should receive a "Receipt Confirmation for Collector's Report of Curio/Relic Handguns". It may take a few months to arrive, though.

Yup.. I bought my M1917 Colt pistol from the Boomtown Cabelas 9/20/08. On 9/21/09 I sent in my $19 to the CA DOJ. they cashed my check on 9/26/09 I JUST got my confirmation letter 2 weeks ago!! I keep it in a side pocket in my bound book
