Sac Valley Silhouette Match this morning

Went out to the match for the first time. Friendly folks and a good time. Starts with a full orientation. $20 bucks covered it all and the good shooters got some of it back as prize money. And I actually knocked a few down. Very few.

Pretty cool. What distance were the silhouettes set?

That range is set-up for standard metallic silhouette, so 200, 300, 385, and 500 meters...but I'm not sure what they actually shot.

Those are the ranges. A long way out there to the Rams with my 67 year old eyes looking over the issue sights on my '08 Brazilian.

Awesome match for sure. I always enjoy making loud noise at this match with my Garand.

Did you screw up a bunch of calls for Juanito, like I did a couple of weeks back? I owe him a beer or two for that haha.

I missed this match. Wifey is in Italy and I couldn't find a babysitter. My 5 year old can't be trusted at a range yet.

There was one that I now understand probably went under that I called over, but Juanito was an excellent tutor and won his class, so it surely could have been worse!

Spotting accurately and making the correct wind calls/corrections for your shooter is an art that learned over many matches. The high and low calls are tough as the low shots looks high and the high looks low.

At least 50% of a shooter's success depends on the proper calls the spotter makes. So be nice to your spotter.
