    Jungle Carbine maintenance

Finally bought a used Jungle Carbine off of Gunbroker. It's pretty well used and dirty. I took it apart today and started a deep cleaning process. My question is how to take care and preserve the rubber butt pad. I don't know how Hoppes/WD-40 or linseed oil (for the stock) will affect or break down the rubber. Any ideas? Thanks Jason

If it is an original pad it is rock hard at this point. Best you can so is use armor all on it and then wipe it off. Sarco used to sell a soft rubber repro pad that actually functions as a recoil pad.
