Pre-war vs wartime Izhevsk 91/30 Mosin Nagant comparison

I posted this on gunboards but I thought some here might find it interesting.

I took the photos together to highlight the differences between a pre-war and wartime made original Izhevsk 91/30 rifles. The differences are striking, especially the stock fitment, machining marks on the receiver, bolt, etc

The 1936 is original matching, non-refurb, non-finned and not import marked, top rifle
The 1943 is original matching, non-refurb but is import marked, bottom rifle

Nice comparison showing the need to hasten wartime production. Finished rough while probably no soldier was going to be taking the time to admire their weapons anyway.

Be careful with that site, it's very outdated, some of that information has been found to be completely wrong in the last few years
