    C&R application question...

Where it says that you need a signature from the chief of police, can we send them the paper, or do we physically have to go to them? Any chief of police in my area? How about a chief of police at the military base? Sorry for the dumb questions, there are no hits on this in the search function.

I don't have a copy handy to read, but you don't need to get a signature from the chief. You don't have to get his permission. YOu do, however, have to send a copy of the FFL to the chief or sheriff and note who you sent it to on the ATF copy. If the CLEO has a problem with your app, he can contact ATF.

You need to send it to the the chief of your city or the county sheriff. If you live on-base, then I dunno who the CLEO is.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Oh ok thanks. The application is in my car, but I remember it said something about that. Something about getting the chief to sign it, and also to make sure my county is legal to do so. So basically, I can fill out everything else, send it to the batf, then when they send it back send the original to the chief to have him look it over? Thanks I still cant find anything out about that part specifically. I checked the stickied threads, too. Thanks again!

Ok, pulled out my photocopy of the app, in section #14, the applicant certification, you certify that you will be legal, and that you will send a copy to the CLEO. You then list the CLEO's name and Address that you are sending it to.

The second copy of the app gets filled out the same, without the payment info (which is removed from the second copy), and that gets sent to the CLEO. One copy goes to ATF and one copy goes to the CLEO. At the bottom of the apps it states that it is notification that you are applying for an FFL. It tells them that if they have info that would disqualify you, that they are to contact the ATF.

There is no spot for the CLEO to sign the app.

while we're at it with questions about filling out the paperwork, in section 15, next to signature there is a box "title", what title to we put there?

            Thanks!
