    C&R application question

Filling out the application for the first time. Number 7 reads: "List below the information required for each individual owner, partner, and other responsible persons...." The required fields include full name, position and SSN, home address, place of birth, DOB, race and sex.

My question is as follows: Is the requested info. in addition to the applicant? Or does this also include the applicant? My initial feeling is that it includes the applicant as it requests info. that was not already provided (i.e., SSN, place and DOB, race and sex). If it includes the applicant, would the position be "applicant"?

And lastly, is there any reason to include my spouse as another responsible party in this section? Pros or cons to including her? (FYI-she has no interest in any of this)

    Thanks,

    RJ

first problem is tht you are using the wrong form. The current C&R App has that question as #9, not #7. Looks like you are using the way out of date cruffler form. That revision is around 10 years old and no longer valid.

The current version includes this in that question (including the individual named in item #1)

I think I listed position as collector. I think it is more for if it was corp, that you would need to list CEO, etc.

I don't know why you'd need to list your spouse if she doesn't have any interest in it.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I think I did in fact download that form from the cruffler's page. Anyone got a link to the new form?

you have to order a paper copy from ATF. There is no PDF version of it.

Here is my condensed guide on how to get a C&R FFL

Go to http://www.atf.gov/dcof/index.htm and request F 7CR (5310.16) - Application for License (Collector of Curios and Relics) Under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, Firearms. . On-line copies of the application you may find are out-of-date and obsolete.

They will mail it to you, fill it out per the instructions, send one copy back to BATF +$30, send second copy to CLEO that you refered to on the form, wait ~2 months, receive approved C&R FFL in mail.

YOu can purchase C&R firearms (no AW's or NFA stuff) while out of state, cash-and-carry, and bring back with you with no in-state dealer needed. C&R handguns that are brought in require you to submit a C&R handgun report within five days. http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/curioapp.pdf

C&R long guns over 50 years old can be purchased in-state from any non-dealer or can be shipped into the state via a mail/phone/web order. Any C&R handguns purchased in-state must go through a CA FFL. If you also get the COE, then you can DROS C&R firearms and take them home immediately, no 10-day wait.

The COE is more expensive, around $100 in fees for the first year, but the renewal is something like $20 bucks per year. It has a very limited use in CA, but when used in conjuction with the C&R exempts you from the 10-day wait on C&R purchases from a dealer, and exempts you from the 1-in-30 handgun regulations for all handguns, modern and C&R.

Your CLEO is your local police chief and/or county Sheriff.

You can also check out http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting...fl03/index.asp for more info.
ATF has been hit and miss if they will send you one. PM me your snail mail address and I'll drop one in the mail, my last extra copy.

+1. It's bad enough that she knows about your collection.....luckily she doesn't know what a C&R license will do to your bank account....

And why would she know about the collection?

I'd recommend finding someone on here who has an extra. I still haven't received my application. And in the time since I've requested it I got another from a CG member, sent it in waited 3 weeks, found out I made a mistake, corrected it and resent it in, waited another 3 weeks and then got my license. Still have not received application I requested.

I had to call the BATFE to get them to send me a copy. The woman who answered the phone was openly scornful about the website form request system.

When an actual human took my info, I had the forms I requested within three days.

Apparently, it's common knowledge (in that office) that it doesn't work for crap.

Just called my local field office and the person took my info. I asked for two, but he said I might only get one since they are getting a lot of requests. I hope I get the right forms since the person I spoke with had a hard time understanding me over the phone...
