    C96 stock: repro or real?

I recently picked up a c96 red 9 and I am looking for an original stock. I found this one Gunbroker but not sure if it's real. What are your thoughts?

I would say it is a fake. Damage and wear on the metal does not match the body of the stock, it should show matching wear on it to match the wear metal, especially considering how much rust is on the metal.
It is possible that metal and and lid parts are from the original stock, but body is not. Three out of five screws on the hinge do not show rust even though they are right on top of it and they look all too glossy and new. Also, stocks are serial numbered to the gun, at least mine is. I call it fake because seller is trying to sell it as the original, not as reproduction.

No expert on them, but I agree the wood just does not have any age at all. Inside the door looks like new wood too. Even sitting in storage and not used, I would expect aging to the wood to occur. Some darkening for sure inside the door. The wood, just looks like it was made yesterday.

Agree about the screws also. They should show the rust streaking also of the surrounding hinge.

It's a Chinese made copy. They were available back in the 70's and 80's.

I agree with the gallery; looks like a repro.
