C&R renewal

Hi everyone, it's time to renew my C&R license. I have a question. I need to send a copy of the form to my local CLEO. How do I address him on the envelope? I know I have done this before I just can't remember and I don't have a copy of that envelope.

Just like any other letter you address...

Line 1: Name and title. E.g., Chief (or Sheriff) sigfan91

Line 2: Street address or P.O. Box of the Chief or Sheriff.

Line 3: City, state, and zip.

If you're confused about police or sheriff, send it to whichever department responds to your license address if you call 911.

Enclosed please find, as per federal regulation, a copy of my ATF Form 8 (5310.11) Part II, 03 FFL renewal. You are not required to take any action with respect to the enclosed form.

Please note that a 03 FFL is not a regular dealer FFL, and will not allow me to operate as a dealer. It simply facilitates the private collecting of certain firearms defined as Curios or Relics by the BATF and the State of California.

If I can be of any service, or if there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the address above.

My letter to the Chief was similar to the above, except that I thanked the Chief for his hard work in keeping us all safe.

All thats needed is one line "Im required to let you know im now FFL03. I like to collect old war guns. Bye, Steve"

There are people on CG saying the letter isnt needed but yes it is. As I remember it has a time limit too, like 10 days or 30 days or something.

I just send a copy of my licence only. I don't muck it up with any letter. That has been working for 15 years now.

Hi guys sorry to bring this back from the past... I got a question, I just got the renew latter from the ATF form 8. On the form page 2 it is asking me to fill out questions C1-6, and 8. D9-19. There is a question C7 A&B that is asking about how many firearms had been bought or acquired and sold or disposed with your license over the past 3 years.... Leave blank and just follow the directions and answer those questions?

Follow the instructions given.

C. Answer questions 1-6, and 8 by checking “yes” or “no” in the boxes to the right of the questions, or N/A if applicable.

C5 is the only question which might get an “NA”.

C7 cannot be answered with a simple check mark or “N/A’”. It wants a number.

7a. How many firearms have you bought or acquired with your firearms license in the past 3 years? If none, enter “0”.

7b has a similar instruction.
