Any recommendations? We've been storing our "later model" guns in Reno and are looking for a place to shoot them.

I used to get there early enough to beat the locals to the shotgun bays so I could shoot by myself.
Also a year or so ago they installed a gate, but at that time nobody knew how it was going to be implemented, maybe now it's in operation? Also if you continue past the shotgun bays into Brunswick Canyon people shoot there when the range is full, like CCW day or LEO day. Don't bother on a weekend.Comment

I HAD a couple places, unfortunately our assclown elected officials chose to give the best spots on BLM land away to the Indian Reservation, who promptly closed them to all recreation.
I have gone looking for new spots, unfortunately the closure of about half the surrounding BLM area meant all the shooter are congregated in what is left. Additionally, the cheat grass has covered pretty much everything, what used to be sagebrush and dirt is now dried grass, that catches fire if you give it a sour look. I don't want to drive in some areas, let alone shoot.
I need to try and find an area that has already burned, see if I can find a spot.
The Carson City range is nice, but uncontrolled. It is also free. Some people prefer the lack of supervision, but having someone shoot once while I was downrange at an uncontrolled range, it is not my preference.
If you come up, let me know, I may be able to join you.
This is where I usually go. It is an excellent facility, with concrete benches, covered firing line out to 200 yards, and steel starting at 300 yards, and every 100 yards out to 800 I think, plus a plate around 950. It has a range master and safety officers, with target breaks every 20 minutes or so. I think it is $7 per person.
A couple of clubs hold matches out there as well.

The Washoe County range looks like the best bet for now. I'll post when I plan to go if anyone wants to join me.Because milsurp.Comment
