    Black powder

I'm looking to get a cap and ball Colt replica, anyone in the LA or OC area know where to buy black powder preferably GOEX?

Martin B. Retting's in Culver City sells black powder in 1lb increments. IIRC it was about $27-30 per pound.

Wow that is pricey. Maybe you should find a reenactor group that does bulk buys. I pay 16.00 a pound and that seems high to me. But I no longer live out there though.

Try some online suppliers. Most make you buy a minimum of 5 pounds. As otherwise hazmat shipping would kill you buying less.

I shoot 1F in my Cannons. Glad I have a "local" supplier. Though he is 80 miles away.

I know there are some crazy regulations out there now, that did not exist when I left. Maybe suppliers will not even ship to CA anymore.

Good Luck and hope you find what you need. Forget substitutes. There is no "substitute", for real Black Powder, it does not exist.

One or more of the vendors here are likely selling what you want.

Thank you for the replies. I'll have to check out the reenactment, sounds interesting and looks like it would be a good time

You can transport five pounds of BP in CA but are only supposed to store one pound without certain permits.

Oscars in San Gabriel? Bought some last year.
Read that they were going under, maybe already have.
