You can always try the poor man's fix. Take a coffee stirrer straw, trim it down, slit it lengthwise, and slip it on the front sight. While at the range, use small scissors or a fingernail trimmer, trim it to length to get you where you want to be on target. This also works with wire casing from copper wire. Black paint will make it less noticeable. -

8mm 170 gr Federal factory along with a 175 gr light hand load. My regular 175 gr load shot about a foot higher which really makes no sense since its only about 200 fps faster.
One thing I just got done doing was floating the barrel. There appeared to be a pressure point on the forend, but the whole first section (stepped barrel) of the stock needed a lot of wood removed to gain enough clearance for a dollar bill. Since the rest of the barrel remained free, I am going to assume for now that all that pressure on the front was bouncing the bullet out of there. (I may not know what I am talking about either, LOL). I am going to add a grain to the "light" load and see where I am at. I am also going to shim a taller mauser blade in that front sight to be added at the range if needed.
Enfield47, I'll also take a straw with me just in case. Thanks for the idea.Last edited by arrowshooter; 07-13-2018, 4:43 PM.Comment
