Yes there is definitely an impulse buying virus going around

Forgive me for posting a non C&R gun in this section, but the recent wave of impulse buying we have been talking about has reached out and touched my bank account a little while ago.

My friend that owns a gun shop back home texted me earlier with a few pics of a gun that he just knew I wouldn't be able to resist, especially at the price he offered it at. So, when I get home I have this to look forward to:

Excuse me for the crappy pictures taken with a potato camera, they are all I have until I get home in a few months.

Date code 'HK' puts it at having been made in 1979.

I've always wondered if that add-on brass deflector works. It would be nice if they didn't fling it to the next county.

When the HK91 first came into this country, they were breaking the florescent lights at the Metcalf gun range. Having broken bits of tube come down on your back was an interesting experience.

                Congrats on the score!

About three years ago, a guy I worked with was getting a divorce and needed to liquidate his small collection. I went to his place to see if there was anything I couldn't live without (I ended buying a Dan Wesson .357). He busted out a HK 91 and asked me if I wanted it for what he paid for it! I told him it wasn't legal for me to buy it. He couldn't understand why. He didn't even know he was supposed to register it as an assault weapon with the state. He was floored when I told him that possessing it was a crime. Man, it broke my heart to pass that one up!
If it ain't broke, keep fixin' it 'til it is...

Back in the late eighties I had a HK91. I believe that I paid $450 for it, but at the time magazines were something like $40 each. Now the magazines are dirt cheap (I recently bought ten brand new HK and Rheinmetall mags for $3.50 each), but the rifles are selling for $2500.

I have a very nice PTR91 with the metal SEF lower and really don't need this HK, but at a mere $1100 I was unable to pass it up.

I always thought there should be a brass flinging competition to see what will throw the brass farther, a HK, an AK47 or my PSL54c. I did make a port restrictor for the PSL which tamed the recoil impulse and the force of the ejection and I could make one for a AK, but you would have to alter the angle of the locking pieces on an HK to something under 45 degrees to change the rate of ejection.
