    SKS I.D

My brother came down this weekend and brought his cosmo soaked SKS with him for me to clean up. He's only touched the rifle a couple of times and never shot it because its coated nicely. He told me its a Chinese SKS, but upon looking at it the rifle has a cyrillic S/N and is matching but the top dust cover. The barrel has IO inc Monroe, NC CHINA on it, my google foo isn't that great so hopefully you guys can point me to the right direction on what this rifle actually is. Sorry for the crappy photos, I'll get better ones later on including the stock.
    Thanks!

Looks like an early Chinese "Letter" rifle, made on soviet equipment, just before they started putting the arsenal code. If it's a true Sino Soviet, could have something there, even missing the matching receiver cover. Need more pictures. PAX

Here are a couple more photos, let me know if you need anymore. He's probably going to sell me the rifle after all said and done.

It's a Soviet SKS.. There were some which were imported with the Chinese a few years ago. The give away are the two Cyrillic letter serial number prefix.

It probably has a Chinese unmarked top cover.

          The stock is Soviet too.

I told him what the rifle was and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "I just want what I paid for it." So $275 and its all mine, I just wish he had more of them!

Are there 3 or 4 numbers after the two Cyrillic prefix letters?

$350 would be a good deal. I expect the bore is shiny and sharp

I think I'm gonna give him $400 just because he could use the money, its shiny, sharp but not chrome lined. So that's means its early 50's?
