    Rear sight base screw for 98k

    So as I was taking apart the rear sight to attach a scope, I noticed that the rear sight base screw turns and turns but does not screw in or out. Is this normal? If not, what is the purpose of the screw?

      The rear sight base is soldered on, the screw more or less holds the sight in the proper clocked position. while that is done.
