Thoroughly confused about C&R handguns in California

May I, a non-FFL and Non-C&R license holder, a mere citizen, legally purchase a C&R handgun from an out of State dealer? Specifically I want to purchase a 1906 Swiss Luger from Simpson's, Inc. I understand it would certainly need to go to my local FFL for waiting period and transfer.

Pay Simpsons. Have them ship it to your FFL dealer. Do DROS.

      It's yours.

Don't forget you have to pay the California Sales Tax as well . . . even though it wasn't purchased in California (what a RIP-OFF)!

Can one be bought from an individual in the same manner?
If so, who would send it to my CA FFL, the individual or would it have to go through an FFL in that state?
Thanks for letting me piggyback here!

As long as your FFL will accept from a private individual you're good to go. No sales tax in this case either.
            C&R nut.

Yes. Find a good FFL near you who understands C&R. And have them review the item and give their blessing BEFORE you pay and arrange the transfer.

Simpsons is great on C&R firearms. If you are in northern CA you may want to visit Krausewerks in San Mateo. Very heavy in to Lugers and a great place to browse.
