Any change in regards to importation of old surplus after Trump came into office?Comment
-
Recent thread on the topic. Its been in the works since he took office, so at least a year's worth of discussion on it. Old news so to speak. Its most likely where these IHCs came from since CMP hasnt offered them in a while.

There was no such thing that affected CMP. CMP's rifle supply was running low because there were no rifles being returned to the Army.
Obamas executive order affected US Importers, not CMP as they are not "Importers"Comment

This is what I am referring to, sorry for any confusion:
On August 29, 2013, the Obama administration announced two Executive Orders that will restrict the importation and domestic transfers of certain classes of firearms. These two Executive Orders operate as law by fiat, not subject to Congressional concurrence.
"One Executive Order bans the re-importation of surplus U.S.-made rifles, including M1 Garands and M1 Carbines. Such rifles are used in Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) competitions. For decades the CMP has sold M1 Garands and M1 Carbines, many re-imported from arsenals overseas, to qualified American shooters. The White House stated: “Today, the Administration is announcing a new policy of denying requests to bring military-grade firearms back into the United States to private entities, with only a few exceptions such as for museums.”"CRPA and NRA member.

you keep having ostrich vision on this. OK, CMP is not an importer.
but, they have been selling re-imported rifles for 20 years. CMP gets these rifles through the Department of the Army, which is controlled by political appointees.
If Obama's Secretary of the Army is told "Do Not Try to Re-acquire MAP rifles" that amounts to an importation ban.
sometimes I wonder about your politics.MAGAComment

I have no politics I just know the facts
CMP has never, ever sold reimported or imported rifles period, That article IS WRONG
CMP was Chartered by Congress, they are NOT a Importer
The Koreans wanted to sell their rifles to the highest bidder, CMP does not buy rifles. Those rifles were blocked by executive order
Rifles are returned to the Army from countries they were loaned to . Obamas order does not affect the Army, it was never in the executive order
The Army then turns them over to CMP.
You need to do some research guysLast edited by Orlando; 03-14-2018, 4:51 PM.Comment

I think its pretty clear what the intent of the order was and how it would affect the CMP.CRPA and NRA member.

again, let me re-iterate- the Secretary of the Army takes orders from the Commander in Chief. Obama never needed to make an Executive Order to direct his political appointee to not pursue MAP rifles. all he needed was a phone call. the pen was not required.
the rifles from Denmark, Greece and Turkey were most definitely re-imported. your only recourse to this reality is pedantry.
have you any evidence that the Danish, Greek and Turk rifles were volunteered to be returned, with out any impetus from Dept of the Army? you know as well as I that negotiations occurred.
to claim that politics was not involved in the recent shortage is disingenuous, at best.MAGAComment
