Use middle man to receive "Evil" SKS from out of state?

I've looked at gunbroker but people there are uniformly leery of shipping even eligible C&R SKS models to CA (eg. Russian.)

Has anyone transferred a non-C&R SKS into CA through a middle man FFL? I found some for sale here:

So I'd pay $240+$20 shipping =$260 for the rifle itself.

Have it shipped to Freakshow and pay $75 and have them remove the grenade launcher: (total now $335)

Pay CA DROS and another transfer fee at a local FFL: $60 (total = $395)

Would it work?

You also need to add another $30 for Freakshow MFG to ship it so now you are above $425. For that price you can find some pretty nice SKS' that you can actually see before you buy.

I'd either find a good deal on GB or GA from a seller willing to ship to CA or wait and find an SKS here.

That should work but for that amount of cash I'd scour the forums and try and pick up a nice C&R Russian, much less hassle.
