I saw it the other day, and am surprised it is still there. All matching metal and a decent replacement stock is worth that all day long. Especially since the handguard has also been replaced. That is easily the biggest PITA task in the C&R world right after replacing a sight hood on a K98.

I really think the factory never expected them to be removed and replaced. So easy to end up destroying the whole thing trying. The armorers probably just tossed the entire assembly and refitted a complete new one..wood, tube and all.

I would honestly rather pay more and buy a wooded tube and replace the whole thing too.
